Drawing on the experience of
previous International Conference events on Lasers and Optics organized
in Greece, the Hellenic Optics and Photonics Community, represented by
the Hellenic Optical Society HELiOS, a member of International
Commission for Optics, ICO, organizes the first
International Commission
for Optics Topical Meeting on
“Emerging Trends and
Novel Materials in Photonics”
in Delphi, Greece,
October 7-9, 2009
A priority objective of ICO-Photonics-Delphi2009 is
to outline recent significant results in the field, while brining
together optical and materials oriented communities for establishing a
common scientific vision.
Plenary
talks as well as
invited
speakers can be
found in this page
(continuously updated).

The top level scientific
programme will be complemented by rich social and cultural activities,
including sightseeing day-excursions and tours to the archaeological
sites and museums.
This is an International Event
promoting collaboration and scientific excellence all over the world.
It conforms fully with the mission, statuses, rules and codes of
practice of the INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION for OPTICS. Participation of
scientists from less favored regions is encouraged and will be
supported. Further, participant support actions are announced in the REGISTRATION
section.

Our choice
of the Land of Delphi was not arbitrary. In
ancient times Delphi was considered to be the Omphalus
(navel) of the world, land of spirit and intelligence, wherein the
Temple of Apollo, the ancient God
of Lightand the famous Delphi Oracle
were established.
Inspired
from this Greek classical era, we aspire that this forthcoming event
will constitute a stimulating forum for academia and industry, where
niche and cutting-edge findings and emerging trends in Photonics will
be analysed, experiences will be shared and collaborations will be
established.
